Photo by Alex. Bassano — Public Domain, Wikimedia Commons 1879 British infantry formed square outside oNdini and broke the Zulu attack with volley fire and artillery, then burned the royal capital. Zulu dead numbered 473 with more than a thousand wounded, against thirteen to eighteen British killed. It ended the Anglo-Zulu War and Cetshwayo was hunted down and captured in August.
