Kenyan security forces rounded up ethnic Somali men at the Wagalla airstrip in Wajir County. The official death toll of 57 rests on a government report that has been widely rejected; survivors and community accounts put the dead in the thousands. Kenya's Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission later called it the country's worst single human rights violation.
