Public Domain, Wikimedia Commons 1952 Fuad II was born in Cairo. Six months later, after the Free Officers forced his father Farouk to abdicate, the infant was proclaimed King of Egypt and the Sudan. He reigned in name only until the monarchy was abolished in June 1953, making him the last king Egypt had.
