Researched pieces on the Nigerian Civil War, from the federation that broke down before it to the war that followed.
This series covers the Nigerian Civil War, also called the Nigeria-Biafra War. It begins before the fighting, with a federation built from three regions, and with the censuses, seats and elections that were in dispute by the end of 1965. The army ended that argument with its coup in January 1966; the coup and the war are covered in later pieces.
Pieces are published in order as each one is researched, so the list below holds only what is finished and grows over time. Each piece cites the sources behind it and says where the record is disputed.
