Four explosions tore through the Nkoantoma military barracks in Bata, killing 108 people and injuring more than 600. President Teodoro Obiang said explosives had been stored carelessly and were set off by farmers burning fields nearby. Human rights groups and reporters who went to the site found no sign of farming there.
