How Nigeria's Gen. Abacha Saved Gen. Babangida (IBB) from the Gideon Orka 1990 coup. Around 2 am on April 22, 1990, junior officers launched a violent coup attempt to kill and depose Babangida. The plotters shelled Babangida’s residence at Dodan Barracks in Lagos.
