The Catholic Church's role in Mussolini's Italian 1935 invasion of Ethiopia, a people that practiced Christianity as a state religion since the 4th century AD. Largely sold as "a holy war to bring Christianity and civilization to savages", it did cost 760,300 Ethiopian lives.
